On the Rottekade in Bergschenhoek, on the outskirts of Rotterdam, we were able to transform an existing house for a young enterprising family into a grand living space that met all their wishes and also acquired a completely new identity.
On this unique location, with the beautiful view over the dyke on the front side and the green Bergse Bos at the rear, we first stripped the house from 1995 and deepened it at the rear to create a spacious living kitchen with a heigh ceiling and transparency to the outside. We were also able to position an connected outdoor kitchen in the backyard.
Finally, we enlarged the house by a third by making extensions to both sides and to the rear. A complex operation that clearly paid off.
On the upper floors, our principle of spaciousness and connection has been implemented by means of a new stair connection to the highest level, with flowing lines which clearly give a visible character to the interior.
